The PFI partnership works together not only to provide outstanding facilities for Burnside students but also to help them to develop important skills that can lead to employment.
PFI partner, North Tyneside Leisure offered a Pool Lifeguard training course to Sixth Form students. PFI partners Kajima (Construction) and MITIE (Facilities Management) generously provided ÂŁ900 of sponsorship to six Burnside students bringing the cost of the course for them to only ÂŁ75 per person.
Four of the students, Daniel Atkinson, Kyle Mason, Callum Doyle and Ellie Mason became qualified lifeguards. Daniel and Kyle are currently working regularly for North Tyneside at Hadrian Leisure and Callum is working in a private health club while they finish their studies at Burnside.
