Students from Year10 visited the Energy Academy in Wallsend to introduce them to the world of engineering. Over two days 85 students attended the visit and took part in a range of activities such as:

  • An F1 challenge which involved changing the wheels on a simulation of a Formula 1 car.
  • A Fabrics workshops to build an I Pad holder.
  • Chocolate welding to show how bridges can support huge weights through welding.
  • The use of CAD software to design engineering parts.

Alongside the challenge, the students met with local employers as well as finding out about local apprenticeships and engineering courses in the region. The whole day was a great success and allowed for the students to get hands-on experience with engineering!
