For September 2021, we are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic leader with a strong track record in teaching music who will work closely with our curriculum leader of drama to expand the performing arts provision and engagement in our school. We are looking for a candidate who can set out a long term plan for music in our school and has the capability to expand this area of our curriculum.

We are keen to appoint an outstanding teacher who shares our vision of a vibrant and varied range of musical experiences being available to students across all key stages. As well as engaging lessons that promote a high level of participation and progression into Key Stage 4  and 5 we wish to increase extra curricular opportunities for all students. Both independently and through collaboration with the curriculum leader for drama, you will provide an exciting range of opportunities for all students to take part in performances and experiences that develop individual skills, provide enrichment and develop cultural knowledge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the curriculum and will work with peripatetic teachers to provide bespoke learning opportunities for those students interested in taking singing lessons or playing a musical instrument.

Applicants will be highly motivated and have a passion to ensure that our learners achieve  the very best that they can at all times. The core purpose of the role will be to uphold the fundamental standards of pride, respect and achievement with all learners but also ensure that all students receive the highest standard of bespoke support.

Burnside College is a good school, with outstanding sixth form provision. We put teaching and learning first and are committed to providing a high quality and inclusive learning experience for all. Furthermore, we are committed to the development of staff and you will be joining a supportive school with an excellent environment in which to continue your professional development.
