Disposition for Learning

Learning dispositions are positive behaviours and attitudes to learning. To help us become life-long learners, good learning dispositions should be nurtured, together with knowledge and skills, from a young age. At Burnside we recognise that developing our learning dispositions is important because the world of work is ever changing and to be successful in the future we must learn how to become lifelong learners.

Staff explore these dispositions on training days and then we develop a termly focus that we work together on during lessons, in assemblies and using thought for the day. This helps ensure that we are constantly modeling and working together to develop our learning behaviours.  We also work upon developing a growth mindset to enable us to continue working and developing our skills. At Burnside we do not believe that our talents/abilities/ dispositions are fixed we want to promote a climate of continual development and self-management.
