The Vocational area currently delivers courses in Health & Social Care and Travel & Tourism. It is also expanding into child care qualifications. These courses are offered from year 10 onwards and are highly successful with excellent results. Many students leave to go onto university to study courses such as Midwifery, Nursing, Social Work, Event Management, Tourism Consultancy and many more.

The team of teachers come from different curriculum areas to allow for the delivery of diverse and specialist content which is tailored to suit the needs of the students.

Key Stage 4

Currently at KS4 we offer Cambridge Nationals in Health & Social Care and BTEC in Travel & Tourism. We are also trialling a child care qualification.

Key Stage 5

In sixth Form we offer Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Health & Social Care. This is a single or double option depending which suits the students’ needs better. We are also looking into a level 3 child care qualification.

Across both key stages there is a heavy emphasis on practical learning with role plays and demonstrations playing a key role in assessment. In sixth form we run a residential field trip to allow our students to experience a wide range of learning environments and to provide opportunities to work as part of a team which all vocational careers require.
